⚠️ Important Warning
Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once your account is deleted, you will not be able to recover your data, articles, or subscription information.
Steps to Delete Your Account

Open the PocketNews app on your mobile device

Sign in to your account (if not already signed in)

Navigate to Settings by tapping the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner

Scroll down to the "Account" section

Tap "Delete Account" (shown in red)

Read the warning and tap "Delete Account" to proceed

Type "DELETE" (in all caps) to confirm

Tap "Confirm Deletion" to permanently delete your account
🔒 Security Note: For your security, if you haven't signed in recently, you may be asked to sign out and sign in again before deleting your account.
What Data Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:
- All saved articles - All URLs and article content you've saved
- Article summaries - All AI-generated summaries in your account
- Reading history - Your complete reading history and progress
- Account settings - Theme preferences, language settings, and other preferences
- User profile - Your email, display name, and account information
- Subscription information - Records of your subscription status (note: active subscriptions may need to be cancelled separately)
- Local data - All data stored locally on your device
Data Retention Period
Immediate Deletion: Your account and all associated data are deleted immediately when you complete the deletion process. There is no retention period.
📱 Active Subscriptions: If you have an active subscription through Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you should cancel it separately through your respective store to avoid future charges. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel your subscription.
What Data We Keep (if any)
After account deletion:
- Anonymous analytics - Aggregated, anonymized usage statistics that cannot be traced back to you (if you previously consented to analytics)
- Legal/regulatory records - Only if required by law for a specific retention period
We do NOT retain any personal information, articles, or identifiable data after account deletion.
Before You Delete
Consider these alternatives before permanently deleting your account:
- Sign out temporarily - Your data will be preserved if you want to return later
- Export your articles - Unfortunately, we don't currently offer a data export feature, but you can manually save any important articles before deletion
- Contact support - If you're having issues with the app, we're here to help!
